On his recent visit to India, the President of Afghanistan, His Excellency Mr. Hamid Karzai took time out from his busy schedule to visit one of the Minimally Invasive Education (MIE) Learning Stations in New Delhi. Invited by the Ministry of External Affairs to experience Hole-in-the-Wall Experiment first hand, President Karzai spent time with over 50 children at Vivekananda Camp, a slum in south Delhi where an MIE Learning Station has been set up.

Establishing an instant rapport with the children by addressing them in Hindi, Mr. Karzai quizzed the 7-15 year olds about their knowledge of computers and what they had learnt at the Learning Station. Some children demonstrated their computer skills by successfully navigating through the applications running at the Learning Station.

Apprising the Hon'ble President about the philosophy behind the Hole-in-the-Wall experiment, NIIT's Chief Operating Officer Mr. P. Rajendran said, "Through the Hole-in-the-Wall experiment, we are trying to find innovative ways to touch millions of young children, including those outside the school system and bring them into the mainstream. We intend to bring high quality education within the reach of all through our research."
